Genuine: Original manufacturer part.
This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Steering Column Lock Clamping Strap - the strap that secures the steering column lock housing to the outer column tube within the steering column and anti-theft lock assembly.
The strap passes around the outer column and is drawn up against the lock body, holding the lock casting in a fixed position so that the locking bolt engages the column shaft squarely. It is used on columns fitted with the ignition and steering interlock, where the lock barrel and the column locking mechanism act as one unit.
Straps of this type are retained by shear bolts, which are tightened until the heads break away so the clamp cannot be released with ordinary tools. New shear bolts are required whenever the strap is disturbed.
