Track Rod End - outer steering joint on the left-hand side of the steering linkage, fitted between the inner track rod and the steering arm on the front hub carrier.

It houses a sealed ball joint that transfers axial travel of the steering rack into steering angle at the road wheel, while articulating freely as the suspension moves through its travel. The body threads onto the inner track rod and is secured by a locknut; this threaded engagement sets front wheel toe, so wheel alignment must be checked and reset after fitting.

A worn track rod end shows as free play at the joint, imprecise steering response, or uneven wear across the tyre shoulders.
