Inner Track Rod - connecting rod between the steering rack and the outer track rod end, forming the inboard half of the steering linkage.

The inboard end carries a ball housing that screws into the end of the rack bar and allows the rod to swing vertically as the suspension moves, while transmitting the rack's axial travel outboard without lost motion. The outboard end is threaded to receive the track rod end, and that thread provides the toe adjustment.

The rack gaiter has to be released to reach the inner joint, so the gaiter and its clips are normally renewed at the same time. Front wheel alignment must be checked and reset after fitting.
