Brand SideM
Tie Rod, the steering linkage between the rack and the front hub carrier, within the rack and pinion steering assembly.

The tie rod transfers lateral movement of the steering rack to the steering arm on the hub carrier, turning the road wheel. Its threaded adjustment sets the front wheel toe, so front wheel alignment must be checked and reset after fitting.

Wear in the joint shows as free play at the steering wheel, feathered or uneven tyre wear across the tread, and a knock from the front end over uneven surfaces.

Frequently asked questions

What is the T2R34927-SD tie rod for?
The T2R34927-SD is a tie rod, the steering linkage between the rack and the front hub carrier, on the Jaguar E-PACE (X540) from 2017. It transfers lateral movement of the steering rack to the steering arm, turning the road wheel within the rack and pinion steering.
What are the signs of a worn tie rod?
A worn tie rod on the E-PACE shows as free play at the steering wheel, feathered or uneven tyre wear across the tread, and a knock from the front end over bumps. Wear develops in the joint over time and affects steering precision, so it's a safety-related renewal.
Do I need a wheel alignment after fitting?
Yes. The tie rod's threaded adjustment sets the front wheel toe, so front wheel alignment must be checked and reset after fitting. Fitting a tie rod without a follow-up alignment leads to rapid tyre wear, so plan for a tracking check as part of the job.
