The bush sits between the transfer box mounting bracket and its supporting structure, locating the unit in the transmission tunnel while absorbing the torque reaction and vibration the transfer box would otherwise transmit into the body. Fitted to all-wheel-drive applications.

A perished or collapsed bush lets the transfer box shift under drive take-up, which shows as a driveline clunk on gear engagement and increased vibration through the floor at speed.
