Hydraulic Bump Stop - threaded-body hydraulic bump stop with 2" of travel, forming the final compression stage of the suspension between the axle and its chassis mounting.
As the main damper approaches the end of its compression stroke, the bump stop absorbs and dissipates the energy of the moving axle instead of allowing the damper to bottom out. This protects the damper itself and reduces the shock loading passed into the chassis and the occupants on heavy landings and rough terrain.
Precision engineered from 2" (52 mm) diameter aluminium with a hard chrome 32 mm diameter piston rod, machined anodised fittings and a nylon contact pad to keep operating noise to a minimum. The 2" travel body is more compact than a 4" travel smooth-body unit, which suits installations where space around the axle is limited. The threaded outer body allows the working height to be screwed in or out and locked, fine-tuning the point in the stroke at which the unit starts to act.
Damping is tunable on both the compression and rebound stroke by altering the oil level, the internal shim stack and the nitrogen charge pressure. The unit is fully rebuildable - nylon wear pads, Schrader valves and O-rings are replaceable, so it can be serviced between events or repaired in the field.
