Shock Absorber A front suspension damper of foam cell (cellular dynamic) construction. It mounts between the axle and the chassis to control spring oscillation and wheel movement, keeping the tyre in contact with the road.

The foam cell design uses a nitrogen-charged cellular insert in place of a conventional pressurised gas chamber. As the piston displaces oil, the cellular foam compensates for the change in volume and resists aeration and foaming of the damper oil under sustained or heavy use, reducing fade during prolonged articulation and off-road work. Built to standard ride height.

Frequently asked questions

What is the DC6010 foam cell shock absorber and what does it do?
The DC6010 is a front suspension shock absorber for the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It mounts between the front axle and chassis to damp spring oscillation and keep the tyre in contact with the road. The foam cell design uses a nitrogen-charged cellular insert instead of a pressurised gas chamber.
Where does this shock absorber fit on the Discovery 2?
This shock absorber fits the front suspension of the Discovery 2 (1998-2004). It's built to standard ride height, so it suits vehicles running factory suspension rather than a raised or lifted setup. The rear axle uses the matching DC6011 rear foam cell shock.
How many DC6010 shocks are needed for the job?
Two DC6010 front shock absorbers are typically needed, since dampers are usually replaced in axle pairs to keep damping balanced side to side. This code covers the front axle only; the rear uses a different shock.
Why do foam cell shocks fail and when should they be replaced?
Shock absorbers wear as the internal oil and seals degrade, so damping fades over time. Typical signs are a floaty or bouncy ride, nose dive under braking, and uneven tyre wear. The foam cell construction resists oil aeration and fade during sustained off-road articulation.
