Power steering pump for the hydraulic power-assisted steering circuit of the 2.7 V6 turbo diesel.

The pump is driven by the auxiliary drive belt and supplies pressurised fluid from the reservoir to the steering rack, with the return line carrying the fluid back to the reservoir. Falling pump output shows up as heavy steering at low speed, a whine that rises with engine speed or on lock, and aerated fluid in the reservoir.

When replacing the pump, flush the circuit and renew the fluid: debris from a failed pump will otherwise be carried into the steering rack.
