Frequently asked questions

What does the track rod end do on a Discovery 3?
The track rod end is the outer ball joint that connects the track rod to the steering knuckle on the Discovery 3 (2005-2009). It transfers steering rack movement to the roadwheel while pivoting for suspension travel. This is the M12 outer joint and it is supplied with its nut.
How do I confirm the right track rod end for my Discovery 3?
This is the M12 outer track rod end for the Discovery 3, fitted up to VIN 9A999999, with the AllMakes fitment break at VIN 9A496359. Steering parts changed during the Discovery 3 build, so confirm your VIN before ordering to get the correct outer joint.
What are the signs a track rod end needs replacing?
Signs include steering play, knocking over bumps, and uneven or accelerated tyre wear on the Discovery 3. The ball joint wears and develops slack over time. A worn joint can fail an inspection and affect steering precision, so replace it once play is felt.
