MacPherson Strut, Front Left-Hand - front suspension strut assembly: the damper unit that locates the front wheel and forms the upper link of the front suspension geometry.

The strut body clamps to the steering knuckle at its lower end and passes up through the strut tower, where the upper mount and its bearing carry the load and allow the assembly to rotate with steering input. It seats the coil spring and damps spring oscillation, controlling body movement and keeping the tyre loaded against the road surface.

For passive damping applications only - not for vehicles equipped with adaptive or magnetic ride damping.


Struts are renewed in axle pairs so that damping stays balanced from side to side; the upper mount and bump stop are normally replaced at the same time.
