Steering Ball Joint - the outer tie rod end in the front steering linkage.

Threads onto the steering gear connecting rod and locates in the steering knuckle arm, transferring steering gear travel into steering angle at the road wheel. The ball and socket articulates so the knuckle can steer and follow suspension movement while the joint holds the toe setting; wear here shows up as steering free play, uneven tyre wear and a knock over rough surfaces.

Handed to suit either side and supplied individually.

The retaining castle nut is a single-use fastener and should be renewed on reassembly. Front wheel alignment must be checked and reset after fitting.
