Expansion Chamber from the air supply unit of the four-corner electronic air suspension system.

The chamber is plumbed to the compressor and acts as a damping volume: it smooths the pressure pulsations produced by each compressor stroke and attenuates the noise the unit transmits into the body. It sits between the compressor and the rest of the air supply circuit and carries no suspension load itself.

A split or chafed chamber shows up as a noticeably louder compressor and as air loss that the control module interprets as a system leak.
