Steering Rack - complete rack-and-pinion steering gear assembly for left-hand drive vehicles, forming the core of the steering system between the steering column and the front road wheels.

The pinion, driven by the steering column shaft, converts rotation of the steering wheel into lateral travel of the rack, which acts through the track rods on the steering arms to turn the front wheels. Power assistance is electric: the assistance motor and its electronic control unit are mounted to the rack housing and act directly on the rack, so there is no hydraulic pump, pipework or fluid in the circuit.

Left-hand drive and right-hand drive racks differ in internal and mounting geometry and are not interchangeable.
