Wheel hub bearing for the front and rear knuckle and hub assemblies.
The bearing carries vehicle load between the hub and the knuckle and allows the hub, brake disc and road wheel to rotate on a fixed axis under braking, cornering and drive loads. The same bearing is used at both front and rear positions and is not handed, so two units are required to do an axle in pairs.
A failing bearing typically announces itself as a speed-dependent droning or rumbling noise that changes pitch as load transfers during cornering, followed by measurable play at the wheel rim; advanced wear can disturb the wheel-speed signal and set ABS or stability-control faults. The bearing is replaced as a complete unit.
