Front suspension damper, part of the front road spring and damper assembly.

The damper is mounted between the lower suspension arm and the body turret and controls oscillation of the road spring, keeping the tyre in contact with the road surface and limiting body movement in pitch and roll.

Worn dampers show as float or wallow over undulations, extended stopping distances and cupped tyre wear. Dampers should be replaced as an axle pair so that damping stays balanced side to side.
