Front Suspension Damper - the telescopic damper of the front road spring and damper assembly, calibrated to comfort specification.

It locates at its lower end on the front suspension lower wishbone and at its upper end in the body-side damper turret, working inside the front road spring to control spring oscillation and keep the tyre loaded through compression and rebound.

Damper performance falls away gradually, so a worn unit is often only noticed once the car floats or pitches after a bump. Replace dampers in axle pairs so that damping stays balanced side to side; the upper mounting isolator (MMD2144AA) is a common companion renewal.
