This is the adaptive-damping variant. An internal valve is switched by the suspension control module so the damping rate varies with road input and driver demand, rather than being fixed as on a conventional damper. The unit carries an electrical connector for that control circuit and is not interchangeable with a passive damper.

Replace in axle pairs so damping stays matched from side to side. A damper that has lost its electrical control will normally set a suspension fault code.
