Rear Upper Shock Absorber Mounting - top mounting assembly securing the rear damper rod to the body, part of the rear springs and dampers assembly.

The mounting carries the damper's upper location through a bonded rubber bush, isolating damper reaction loads from the body structure while permitting the small angular movement the damper makes through suspension travel. A worn or collapsed mounting usually shows as knocking or a dull thud from the rear over bumps, and can let the damper rod work off its intended axis.

Renew the mounting whenever the damper itself is replaced, and in pairs across the axle.
