Frequently asked questions

What does the AE camshaft bearing set do?
This is a 4-piece camshaft bearing set that supports the camshaft within the engine block, letting it rotate under load with reduced friction and wear. It's supplied as a full set for one camshaft overhaul.
Why would camshaft bearings need replacing?
Camshaft bearings typically wear from oil starvation, contaminated oil, or simple age related wear. Symptoms include a knocking or rumbling noise from the engine, low oil pressure, or visible scoring on the old bearings when the engine is stripped.
Can I fit camshaft bearings myself?
Fitting camshaft bearings usually means the engine block is stripped and the old bearings pressed or driven out, so this is typically an engine rebuild task for a machine shop or experienced engine builder rather than a routine driveway job.
