Front wheel hub with bearing, part of the front knuckle and hub assembly.
The hub locates in the steering knuckle and carries the road wheel and brake disc on its mounting flange, while the drive shaft splines pass through its centre and are retained by the hub nut. The wheel bearing is integrated into the unit, so hub and bearing are supplied and renewed together as a single assembly rather than pressed apart.
A worn bearing presents as a speed-dependent rumble that changes as load transfers during cornering, followed by measurable play at the wheel rim; late-stage wear can also disturb the wheel-speed signal and set ABS or stability-control faults. The hub nut is a single-use fastener and should be renewed on reassembly.
