Cable Gaiter is a flexible protective sleeve and grommet fitted at the door aperture, routing the door wiring harness between the body and the door frame.

It seals the wiring conduit against water ingress and protects the loom from abrasion where it passes through the aperture and flexes as the door opens. Used at the front doors and the rear side doors.

What is the cable gaiter?
The cable gaiter is a flexible protective sleeve and grommet fitted at the Defender door aperture, routing the door wiring harness between the body and the door frame. It seals the wiring conduit against water and protects the loom from abrasion where it passes through the aperture and flexes as the door opens.
Where is this gaiter used?
This gaiter is used at the front doors and the rear side doors on the Defender, covering the harness where it crosses the door aperture. It fits both the old-style Defender (1987 to 2006) and the Puma Defender (2007 to 2016), so it suits either generation.
Why do these gaiters need replacing?
Cable gaiters perish, split and harden with age and repeated door movement. Once split, the gaiter lets water into the wiring conduit and stops protecting the loom from chafing at the aperture, which can lead to corroded connections or damaged door wiring. A new gaiter restores the seal.
