Crankshaft Pulley with integral torsional damper, part of the front-of-engine auxiliary drive on the 2.0L I4 AJ200 Ingenium petrol and diesel engines.
Mounts on the crankshaft nose and drives the auxiliary belt to the alternator, coolant pump and air conditioning compressor. The bonded rubber element between the inner hub and the outer belt ring absorbs crankshaft torsional vibration, so the pulley acts as a damper as much as a drive member.
A perished or delaminated rubber element lets the outer ring run out of true and move relative to the hub, which throws off belt tracking, upsets crankshaft position readings and passes vibration into the accessory drive. Inspect for rubber cracking, ring wobble and any misalignment between the hub and ring reference marks. Fit a new crankshaft pulley bolt and tighten to the specified torque and angle.
