Timing Chain - Secondary, Upper is part of the camshaft drive of the 2.0L Ingenium four-cylinder petrol engine (AJ200 / AJ20P4), including plug-in hybrid applications.

It runs in the upper section of the timing case and carries drive to the camshaft sprockets, held under tension by the secondary chain tensioner and located by the timing chain guides. Because the chain, tensioner and guides wear together, they are normally renewed as a set when the timing case is opened.

Petrol applications only - the diesel version of this engine family uses a different secondary chain.
