Oxygen Sensor (lambda sensor) for the lower, post-catalyst position in the exhaust gas sensing circuit, mounted in the exhaust front pipe at the catalyst.

The probe measures residual oxygen in the exhaust stream and reports the resulting air/fuel ratio to the engine control module. On petrol applications the post-catalyst signal is compared with the upstream sensor to monitor catalyst conversion efficiency and to correct the closed-loop fuelling trim; on diesel applications it supports air/fuel ratio monitoring for emissions control and exhaust aftertreatment management. An integral heater element brings the sensing element up to operating temperature shortly after a cold start, so control is available early in the drive cycle.

A slow, aged or drifting sensor normally presents as an emissions or catalyst-efficiency fault code with raised fuel consumption, rather than as an outright running failure.

For 2.0L four-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel engines.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LR142730G oxygen sensor for?
The LR142730G is the lower, post-catalyst oxygen sensor for the 2.0L four-cylinder engine, mounted in the exhaust front pipe at the catalyst. It measures residual oxygen and reports the air/fuel ratio to the engine control module, which uses it to monitor catalyst conversion on petrol applications.
Where is the lower oxygen sensor located?
The lower oxygen sensor threads into the exhaust front pipe at the catalyst, in the post-catalyst position. On the 2.0L four-cylinder engine its downstream signal is compared with the upstream sensor to check how well the catalyst is working, which is why position matters when ordering.
Which vehicles use this 2.0L oxygen sensor?
The LR142730G fits the 2.0L four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines (AJ200 / AJ20P4 / AJ20D4 / AJ21D4) in the New Defender L663, Discovery 5, Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque L551, Range Rover L405 and Range Rover Sport L494. Confirm your engine and VIN, as sensor position varies.
