LR162110G - Radiator
Coolant leaves the engine through the thermostat housing and enters the radiator via the top hose, passes through the core matrix where it gives up its heat, and returns to the water pump inlet through the bottom hose. The unit mounts in the front-end carrier alongside the air-conditioning condenser and the charge-air and transmission coolers, with the fan module drawing air through the stack when road speed is insufficient for ram airflow.
Replacement is normally driven by core corrosion, cracking at the plastic end tanks or their crimped seams, or frontal impact damage.
Refill with the correct coolant specification and bleed the system completely on refitting; a trapped air pocket will produce erratic gauge behaviour and localised overheating. Inspect the mounting bushes, the upper and lower hoses and the fan cowl for damage while access is available.
