Frequently asked questions

What is the RTC5889G brake caliper?
It's a rear right-hand brake caliper, made by AP to OEM specification. Fits Discovery 1 (VIN FA393361 to WA799999) with non-ABS rear disc brakes, and Range Rover Classic with 4-wheel ABS.
What's the difference between RTC5889G and RTC5889R?
Both are rear right-hand calipers for the same application, but RTC5889G is the OEM AP-branded version and RTC5889R is the Aftermarket equivalent. Fit whichever quality tier you need, they're for the same side and axle.
Is RTC5889G for the left or right side?
Right-hand side only. Its mirror part for the left rear is a separate caliper, so check which side has failed before ordering.
Why do brake calipers need replacing?
Calipers typically fail from a seized piston, perished seals, or a sticking slider pin, causing uneven braking, a pulling sensation, or a dragging wheel. A caliper that's leaking brake fluid needs replacing immediately for safety.
