Timing Chain Guide, Lower Primary from the front timing gear assembly.

It bears against the primary drive chain on the run between the crankshaft sprocket and the upper timing gear, holding the chain on its intended path and damping the whip that would otherwise develop across the free span. A worn or cracked guide lets the chain slap, which accelerates chain and sprocket wear and can disturb valve timing.

For the 2.0L I4 Ingenium (AJ200 / AJ20D4) engine, petrol and diesel. The guide is secured by the timing gear special nut LR120542.
