Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal and Retainer forms the oil-tight closure at the flywheel end of the cylinder block, within the Cylinder Block and Crankshaft assembly group.

The retainer bolts to the rear face of the block and locates the lip seal concentrically around the crankshaft rear journal, sealing the crankcase where the crankshaft passes through to the flywheel or drive plate. Concentric alignment of the retainer to the crankshaft is critical: an offset seal runs eccentrically on the journal and will weep oil into the bellhousing.

Supplied as the seal together with its retainer housing. For 2.0L petrol applications.

Because access requires removal of the gearbox and flywheel or drive plate, this seal is normally renewed as a matter of course whenever the transmission or clutch is disturbed.
