Coolant Bypass Tube - a rigid coolant transfer pipe in the cooling circuit of the 2.0L AJ20P4 four-cylinder petrol engine.

The tube carries coolant between the engine and the heater water and EGR cooler branch of the circuit, replacing flexible hose where the run is long, tightly routed or exposed to high under-bonnet temperature.

The usual failure is a weep at one of the end joints or corrosion pitting on the tube itself, giving a small pressurised leak that is difficult to trace and a slowly falling coolant level. Renew the joint seals on refitting, then refill and bleed the cooling system.
