Purge Control Valve - evaporative emission (EVAP) control system.

The valve sits in the line between the activated carbon canister and the engine inlet manifold. On command from the engine control module it opens so that manifold depression draws the fuel vapour stored in the canister into the intake to be burnt, regenerating the canister. The valve also closes off the sealed circuit used by the fuel tank leak detection routine, so a valve that no longer seals will set evaporative system leak faults.

Fitted to petrol engines specified with fuel tank leak detection. Supplied as a complete valve assembly.
