Range Rover Evoque parts for both production generations: the L538 (2011 to 2018) and the L551 (2019 to present), including the L538 Convertible (2016 to 2018). The compact Range Rover sits on a different mechanical lineage from its full-size siblings, with its own platform codes, engine families, and service patterns.
Both generations are dispatched from our Dutch warehouse network for EU delivery. Use the generation links below to enter the correct child collection, or read on for the L538-versus-L551 boundary and a VIN-check overview.

View full detailsGenerations Overview
The Evoque has two distinct generations. They share the Range Rover badge and the compact-SUV positioning, but they do not share platforms, do not share most major mechanical parts, and were built with different engine families.
| Generation | Chassis code | Production | Platform | Engine families |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First generation | L538 | 2011 to 2018 | D8 (PTA precursor) | Ford-derived (early), Ingenium (2015 to 2016 model year refresh onwards) |
| Second generation | L551 | 2019 to present | PTA (Premium Transverse Architecture) | Ingenium MHEV and PHEV |
The two platforms are not interchangeable. An L538 suspension component is not an L551 suspension component, and a control arm sold for one will not fit the other. The same applies across braking, drivetrain, and most body-related parts. Always identify the generation before ordering.
The Range Rover Evoque L538 parts collection holds the catalogue for the first generation, including all 3-door, 5-door, and Convertible variants. The Range Rover Evoque L551 parts collection holds the catalogue for the second generation, including MHEV and PHEV variants.
Vehicle IdentificationThree identification questions cover most ordering errors at the parent-page stage. Resolve all three before adding parts to the cart.
If your Evoque was first registered between November 2011 and the end of 2018, it is an L538. If first registered in 2019 or later, it is an L551. The L538 carried over into early 2019 in some markets as remaining stock cleared, so registrations from January to March 2019 should be VIN-checked rather than year-checked.
The L538 came in 5-door, 3-door (also called Coupe), and Convertible variants. The Convertible was built only for the 2016 to 2018 model years (a two-year production run), and many of its body, weather-seal, and roof-mechanism parts are unique to that variant. The L551 came as 5-door only.
The L538 split mid-production. Cars built up to the 2014 model year carry Ford-derived engines; cars from the 2015 to 2016 model year refresh onwards carry JLR's Ingenium family. Oil specifications and service intervals differ between the two eras. The L551 is Ingenium-only across the full production run, with MHEV (mild hybrid) and PHEV (plug-in hybrid) variants from launch.
Both generations carry the 17-digit ISO 3779 VIN. The 10th digit identifies model year. Cross-check against the official Range Rover Evoque vehicle page on landrover.com if you need to confirm specification against current Land Rover documentation.
System-adjacency links into the component collections that the Evoque family draws from. Use these when you know the system you need but want to browse the broader category before filtering to your generation. Each component collection covers the full Land Rover and Range Rover range, so identify your Evoque generation first, then use the filter on the component collection to narrow to L538 or L551 fitment.

Technical GuidesIn-depth Evoque technical content covering generation specifics, variant identification, and service patterns.
The L538 split into two mechanically distinct eras at the 2015 to 2016 model year refresh, and the boundary affects engine, oil, and service-interval decisions for any L538 service job.
Read the full L538 technical guideThe L538 Convertible (2016 to 2018) shares its drivetrain with the hard-top L538 but carries unique structural reinforcement, an electric roof mechanism, and weather-seal architecture that the standard L538 does not.
Read the full Convertible variant guideThe Evoque Victoria Beckham Edition (L538 Si4) and the wider Si4 petrol range share the Aisin AWF21 transmission and second-generation Haldex AWD coupling, both of which have specific service patterns worth understanding before ordering parts.
Read the full Si4 service guideThe L538 (2011 to 2018) is the first-generation Evoque, built on the D8 platform with a body style range covering 5-door, 3-door, and Convertible variants. The L551 (2019 to present) is the second-generation Evoque, built on the PTA platform shared with Discovery Sport L550, and is 5-door only. The two generations do not share the platform, do not share engine families across the full production run, and most major mechanical and body parts are not interchangeable. Order parts for the correct generation: an L538 control arm will not fit an L551, and the reverse is also true.
No. The L538 and L551 are built on different platforms (D8 versus PTA), with different suspension geometry, different mounting points, and different fastener specifications across most assemblies. Engine families overlap only in the Ingenium 2.0 litre block at the broadest level, and even there the ancillary fitments (turbo specification, sensor positions, harness routing) differ between L538 Ingenium and L551 Ingenium installations. Treat the two generations as separate vehicles for parts purposes.
Yes. The L538 Convertible was produced for two model years (2016 to 2018) and shares its drivetrain with the hard-top L538, so most service and drivetrain parts are common with the standard L538 catalogue. Convertible-specific parts cover the electric roof mechanism, structural reinforcement, and weather seals. The 600 mm wading depth and Terrain Response system match the hard-top, so off-road service items also cross over. Convertible parts are stocked in our Range Rover Evoque L538 parts collection alongside the hard-top range.
Three checks settle it. First, the registration year: L538 covers November 2011 to end of 2018, L551 covers 2019 onwards (with a brief overlap in early 2019 as remaining L538 stock cleared). Second, the body style: 3-door and Convertible variants are L538-only. Third, the VIN: both generations carry the 17-digit ISO 3779 VIN, and the 10th digit identifies model year. For any car registered in early 2019, VIN-check rather than year-check.
