Fan Pulley - viscous fan drive pulley from the accessory drive (pulleys and drive belts) assembly. One fitted per engine.

Driven by the auxiliary belt, the pulley carries the viscous fan clutch and passes drive to the engine cooling fan. It runs on its own sealed bearing, so it doubles as a guide pulley in the belt path and its condition affects both fan drive and belt tracking.

A failing bearing gives a rumble or whine that rises with engine speed, present with the belt fitted and absent with it removed. Spin the pulley by hand and check for roughness, end float and play at the mounting face whenever the drive belt is renewed - slack here lets the fan assembly run out of true.
