Brand Autotec Components
Front ABS wheel speed sensor, part of the anti-lock braking system's wheel speed sensing circuit.

The sensor is mounted in the front hub carrier and reads the toothed exciter ring rotating with the hub. The signal it generates is used by the ABS control module to detect impending wheel lock and modulate brake line pressure, and is shared with the traction control and stability systems.

One sensor is fitted at each front wheel. A damaged or contaminated sensor normally presents as an illuminated ABS warning lamp with a stored wheel speed signal fault.

Frequently asked questions

What does the SSF500011A front ABS sensor do?
The SSF500011A is a front ABS wheel speed sensor. Mounted in the front hub carrier, it reads the toothed exciter ring turning with the hub, and the ABS module uses that signal to detect impending wheel lock and modulate brake pressure. It's shared with traction and stability control.
Which Range Rover does the SSF500011A fit?
The SSF500011A fits the Range Rover L322 (2002-2012) front. There's a build change around VIN 9A999999 / AA000001, so check your VIN before ordering to match the correct front sensor.
How many front ABS sensors are fitted?
One SSF500011A is fitted at each front wheel, so two per vehicle. Replacing both front sensors together is common when one has failed and the other is the same age.
What are the symptoms of a failed front ABS sensor?
A damaged or contaminated front ABS sensor typically shows as an illuminated ABS warning lamp with a stored front wheel speed fault. Traction and stability control may also disable until the fault is cleared.
