Circlip for the locking differential cross-shaft (barshaft) within the rear axle differential assembly.

The circlip seats in a groove on the cross-shaft and retains it in the differential carrier, preventing axial movement of the shaft in service. Two are fitted per differential.

What does the differential barshaft circlip do?
The differential barshaft circlip locks the cross-shaft (barshaft) inside the rear locking differential carrier, stopping it moving sideways in service. It seats in a machined groove on the cross-shaft. Without it the shaft can walk out and the differential gears lose their pivot.
How many of these circlips are needed?
Two circlips are fitted per differential, one at each end of the cross-shaft. They're sold individually, so order a pair if you're rebuilding the differential or replacing both at once.
