The filter sits in the fresh air intake path, upstream of the blower motor, and removes pollen, dust, soot and other airborne particulates from outside air before it enters the cabin ventilation ducting. A blocked filter restricts airflow through the system and reduces heater and air conditioning output at every fan speed.

This is a scheduled service item. A separate interior cabin filter is fitted within the heater and air conditioning main unit and is normally renewed at the same time.
