Boost Control Solenoid Valve - an electro-pneumatic vacuum switching valve in the engine vacuum control circuit.

The solenoid is energised by the engine management ECU and modulates the vacuum supply passed on to a diaphragm actuator, working either as the turbocharger boost control valve or as the EGR vacuum regulator depending on the installation. It is plumbed between the vacuum source and the actuator, with its electrical connector on the valve body.

Typical failure symptoms are loss of boost control, an EGR valve that no longer opens or closes cleanly, and related engine management fault codes.
