Fuel Injector Seal - Upper - sealing ring for the upper position on the fuel injector, part of the fuel injectors and pipes group on the V8 petrol engine.

Each injector is sealed at two points along its body; this ring closes the upper joint, while the lower position takes the separate seal LR012827. The seals age through heat cycling and fuel exposure rather than through mileage, so once hardened, swollen or nicked on removal they no longer close the joint and allow fuel to escape past the injector.

Treat both seals as replace-on-disturbance items whenever an injector is removed. Fit the new seal without stretching it over sharp edges, lubricate it lightly with clean fuel, and press the injector home squarely rather than twisting it into place.
