Hot coolant leaving the engine enters through the inlet connection and passes through the core, where airflow removes heat before the coolant returns to the water pump through the outlet connection. On turbocharged diesel applications the radiator sits in the same front pack as the charge-air cooler, each handling a separate heat load.
