Brake Disc - front axle, internally vented.

The disc provides the friction surface that the front brake pads clamp against, converting the vehicle's momentum into heat. The vanes cast between the two friction faces pump air through the disc as it turns, carrying that heat away and limiting brake fade under repeated or heavy braking.

Discs are replaced as an axle pair so braking remains even from side to side, and new pads should be fitted at the same time so the friction material beds to the fresh surface.
