Where does the oil pan retainer sit and what does it hold?
The oil pan retainer sits within the oil pan, or sump, and secures the oil level sensor so it reads the oil level correctly. If the retainer is broken or missing, the sensor can move and give false oil level readings, so it's renewed whenever the sump or sensor is disturbed.
