Inlet Manifold Seal for the 4.4L AJ V8 petrol engine, sealing the lower inlet manifold to the cylinder head within the air induction system.

It closes the manifold-to-head joint so the induction tract remains airtight and unmetered air cannot be drawn in downstream of the throttle. A leak at this joint upsets the metered air/fuel ratio and typically shows as an unstable or rough idle. The seal is renewed whenever the inlet manifold is removed.

What is the inlet manifold seal for on the 4.4 AJ V8?
The inlet manifold seal seals the joint between the intake manifold and the cylinder heads on the 4.4 AJ V8 petrol engine, so the engine breathes correctly. Fits Discovery 3, Range Rover L322 and Range Rover Sport L320 with the 4.4 AJ V8.
Does this fit both the M62 and AJ V8 L322?
This seal fits only the 4.4 AJ V8, not the earlier M62 BMW V8. On the Range Rover L322 that means cars from VIN 6A000001 onward, the 2006 facelift. Check your VIN before ordering, as the two engines use different manifold seals.
What happens if the inlet manifold seal fails?
A failed inlet manifold seal lets unmetered air into the AJ V8, typically causing rough idle, a lean running fault or a vacuum leak. On Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport L320 it often shows as fault codes and poor cold running. Replacing the seal restores a proper air seal.
