Pulley Assembly - Tension is the tension pulley of the auxiliary drive belt system, mounted on the tensioner arm and running against the polyvee accessory belt.

It sets the belt wrap around the surrounding accessory pulleys and carries the tensioner spring load, so its bearing is loaded continuously whenever the engine is turning. A dry or worn bearing produces a rumble or whine that rises with engine speed and can let the belt track off-centre, which shows as edge wear on the belt.
