Front Shock Absorber - hydraulic damper for the front suspension.
The damper mounts between the lower suspension arm and the body-side upper turret, controlling road-spring oscillation and keeping the tyre in contact with the road surface. It works alongside the front spring, top mount and bump stop.
This is the conventional-damping specification, for vehicles built without Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) and without adaptive damping. Vehicles with electronically adjustable dampers require a different unit.
Dampers should be replaced in axle pairs so damping rates stay matched from side to side.
