Parking Brake Cable Bracket from the parking brake cable routing. The bracket anchors the cable outer casing at a fixed point on the vehicle, so that movement of the inner cable is delivered as travel at the parking brake actuator rather than being absorbed by the cable itself.

Without a secure abutment the outer casing flexes under load and the parking brake loses effective travel, giving a long lever stroke and a brake that will not hold reliably. The bracket also fixes the cable run clear of suspension movement and exhaust heat, preventing chafing and heat damage to the casing.

Inspect the bracket and its fixing whenever the parking brake shoes or cable are renewed; corrosion at the mounting is the usual reason for replacement.
