Rear Brake Wear Sensor is part of the rear braking assembly, fitted to the brake pad on the rear axle.

The sensor monitors brake pad thickness. As the pad wears down to its service limit, the sensor circuit is broken and the brake pad wear warning is triggered on the instrument cluster, signalling that the rear pads require replacement.

Supplied as a single sensor.

Frequently asked questions

What does the rear brake wear sensor (SOE000025) do?
The SOE000025 rear brake wear sensor monitors rear brake pad thickness. It's a wire loop clipped into the rear pad; as the pad wears to its service limit the loop is broken, triggering the brake pad wear warning on the instrument cluster to tell you the rear pads need replacing.
How many rear wear sensors do I need?
Typically one rear brake wear sensor is used per axle on these Land Rovers, not one per pad, and the SOE000025 is supplied as a single sensor. It usually sits on one rear caliper, so one sensor normally covers a rear pad change. Confirm against your vehicle.
Should the wear sensor be replaced with the rear pads?
Yes, replace the rear wear sensor once it has triggered, because the wire is worn through and the circuit is broken. Even if intact, it's typically renewed alongside a rear pad change since it can be damaged on removal. A fresh sensor restores the dashboard wear warning.
Which Land Rovers does the SOE000025 fit?
The SOE000025 fits the rear axle of the Discovery 3 (to VIN 9A999999), Discovery 4 (all engines), and Range Rover Sport L320. It's an OEM-quality wear sensor. Use your VIN to confirm the correct rear sensor for your build.
