Brake Caliper Carrier - Rear - the fixed bracket of the rear sliding-caliper brake assembly, dimensioned for the rear disc size used with the 18-inch wheel package.
The carrier bolts to the rear hub carrier and holds the caliper body on two guide pins, allowing the caliper to float across the disc. It also forms the abutments that locate the brake pads and transfer braking torque into the suspension upright.
Carriers are disc-diameter specific and are not interchangeable between brake package sizes: a carrier from a smaller disc offsets the caliper radially and the pads will not sweep the full friction band. Inspect the pad abutment slots and guide pin bores at every pad change - corrosion scale or ridging in either will make the caliper bind, producing tapered pad wear and a dragging brake.
