Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor for the rear-of-catalyst position in the diesel exhaust aftertreatment system, on vehicles fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF).

Mounted downstream of the catalytic converter, the sensor reports gas temperature at that point to the engine control module. The ECM reads it alongside the other exhaust temperature sensors to confirm catalyst operation and to govern the DPF regeneration cycle, which must reach and hold a controlled temperature to burn off accumulated soot.

Applies to the 32-valve DOHC V8 turbo diesel (Lion / TdV8). This sensor is specific to the rear-of-catalyst location.
