Timing Chain Blade is the tensioner blade in the engine's timing chain drive. It provides the curved, low-friction face that the timing chain bears against on its slack side.

Working against the hydraulic timing chain tensioner, the blade pivots to absorb slack and hold correct chain tension throughout the engine's speed range, preserving accurate camshaft-to-crankshaft timing and damping chain noise. Fitted to petrol V8 and supercharged V6 engines.
