Exhaust Mounting Rubber - a rubber insulator in the exhaust system mounting arrangement, used at both front and rear hanger positions.

The insulator suspends the exhaust from the underbody hanger brackets, isolating exhaust and drivetrain vibration from the body structure while allowing the system to expand, contract and move on its mountings as it heats and cools.

Perished or split insulators let the system sag or contact the underbody, producing rattles and drone and placing bending load on the joints and the flexible section.
