What is the Td5 fuel block connector and what does it do?
The Td5 fuel block connector is the junction at the rear of the engine that houses the fuel pressure regulator. It controls the fuel return flow and maintains the pressure the Td5 injection system needs to run correctly. It fits the Defender and Discovery 2 with the 2.5L Td5 engine.
What does the no-hoses version of this fuel block connector include?
The no-hoses version is supplied as the connector block only, without the connecting fuel hoses. It's for fitting where the existing hoses are kept or a custom fuel line setup is used. If your old hoses are perished, you'll need to source those separately.
Why does the Td5 fuel block connector fail?
The Td5 fuel block is a recognised wear point that can start to leak with age, usually as the plastic and seals harden and crack. A fuel smell, weeping at the rear of the engine, or hard starting can point to it. A fuel leak is a fire and running risk, so don't leave it.
How do I confirm this fits my Td5?
This fits the Defender 1998-2006 with the Td5 engine and 2-pipe entry, and the Discovery 2 1998-2004 Td5 up to VIN 1A736339. Later Discovery 2 builds differ, so check your VIN against that ceiling before ordering.
